Grant McCann insists that Romario Vieira is still wanting to join the club, despite stumbling on contract negotiations.

Free agent, Vieira, who was released by Championship side Leeds United in the summer has been on trial with Rovers for several weeks, even appearing in a couple of friendlies for the club but all has recently gone quiet on a potential deal for the 20-year-old.

Grant McCann said: “Hopefully we’ll get it done within the next couple of weeks – I don’t want to speak too much about it. It’s things that aren’t fair for me to talk about, regarding the boy as it’s more important we get this problem sorted and then we can take it from there.

“Romario’s going nowhere, he wants to stay with us. It has nothing to do with his brother going to Sampdoria, nothing to do with anything else that has been put out there.

“It’s strictly nothing that anyone has a clue about, so we need to make sure it’s right for us.”
