Rovers came into the game knowing 3 points could see them seal promotion back to league one at first time of asking – an get 3 points, they did!
First half didn’t seem to be the half for Rovers with them giving away needless pieces of possession – in particularly, Mathieu Baudry. Luckily for the French-man, Craig Alcock was always there to rescue him from the danger he created.
Mansfield had their fair amount of shots, however, this primarily came from outside of the box, meaning a lot of their shots either went over the crossbar or wide of the post.
Second half Rovers seem to have came out the better team, but Mansfield didn’t rest there, they did continue to press but – unfortunately for them – they didn’t manage to make anything from it.
It took a corner around the 70th minute of the game for Rovers to secure the three points and more importantly promotion, with Tommy Rowe heading the ball into the right hand side of the net, from one of Coppingers’ corners.
There was a few nervy moments towards the end, with Blair and Butler clearing two chances off the line from Mansfield, but Rovers prevailed and managed to clinch onto their lead, consequently resulting in promotion at the first time of asking, back to league one!
