After claiming number one spot in league two, Rovers turn their heads towards the Checkatrade Trophy, where we face Blackpool in round two.
Darren Ferguson has confirmed that both: Andy Williams and Harry Middleton are to start v Blackpool in this home cup match, and will be given ‘at least’ 60 minutes, after they come back from injury.
Loanee, Riccardo Calder is expected to be given a run after not having hardly any game time as of late.
Tommy Rowe, James Coppinger and John Marquis are some players that are expected to be rested, so that they’re fit and prepared for the big clash v Plymouth also this week in the league.
Ferguson is expected to use his 3-4-3 formation, so that it can suit the players that he’ll be giving starts to.
Due to Checkatrade Trophy rules, there must be at least six players starting from the last match. As a result could see some players miss out on some game time, that maybe haven’t had any as of late.
Player to watch
Blackpool midfielder, Brad Potts, seems to be their strongest player, and if he starts for the Pools, then he’s going to be causing problems for our defence.
It was only towards the back end of October, this year, when we last played Blackpool, and we ended up getting ‘thrashed’ 4-2 at their place, but coincidentally that was our last defeat, and since then we haven’t lost. We don’t seem to have a good record v Blackpool either, as we’ve only won 10 out of 46 encounters since 1901.
Predicted lineup v Blackpool
Marosi; Wright, Baudry, Butler; Mason, Keegan, Middleton, Blair; Mandeville, Williams and Beestin.
